As a 3D designer for this project, I was responsible for developing both stylized and realistic 3D assets, concept art, and 2D graphic elements for a VR game inspired by the brick breaker arcade game. I collaborated with a game development team to develop game mechanics and levels in Unity.
Software: Blender, Photoshop, & Unity
Racquetball Rampage Arcade Machine
For the design of the main arcade machine, we decided to go with a brightly colored exterior that reflected the vibrancy and excitement of the game itself. The main inspirations for the visual style of the game and its assets were bright colors and glow effects from vaporwave and retro sci-fi design from Tron, which I incorporated into the illustration for the exterior. It was also important for the main arcade machine to incorporate highly saturated colors when compared to the rest of the arcade environment.
Bat Unlocks
Within the game itself, the player has the opportunity to choose what tool they want to use to hit the ball to send it back to break the bricks. These assets were meant to be low-poly and stylized, with most of the detail within the material. Based on feedback from the game development team once the initial materials were complete, the materials for the cricket bat and tennis racket were altered from the concept designs (right).
Arcade Decor Assets
The main menu for the game was located in a realistic arcade environment, with the player located stationary in front of the main arcade machine and able to look around.
Title
In addition to the 3D assets I developed, I also created a title logo for the game.
